Monday
3/29 Complete the Act IV and Act V quotations. Start on the study questions for the Romeo & Juliet exam. You may earn up to 10 points extra credit on the exam by writing down thorough answers to the questions. Due Thursday.

3/30 Finish up your IR if you have not done so already. Work on study questions.

Wednesday
3/24 Finish your study questions if you have not done so already and work on your outline for your Romeo & Juliet essay.

Thursday
4/1 Finish up the outline for your Romeo & Juliet essay. Start on your first draft if you can.

Friday
4/2 Read in your new IR book and enjoy the vacation. Watch the modern version of Romeo and Juliet at the end of vacation. Wait until April 10th or 11th so it refreshes your memory and helps you finish up your first drafts, due on Tuesday April 13th.

3/22 Read in your IR book. The final date to take an IR test will be on Wednesday March 31.

3/23 Complete the Act III Quotations and study for Vocabulary Quiz #3. The quiz will be on Thursday. Finish watching Act III if you have not done so already. Anna, we finished reading Act III today (pages 54-66).

3/24 Complete the Act III Reflection and study for Vocabulary Quiz #3.

3/25 Complete the Act IV Reflection. Anna read to page 77.

Friday
3/26 Read in your IR book. The final date to take an IR test will be on Wednesday March 31. Start on the study questions for the exam. The Romeo & Juliet exam will be next Thursday, April 1. Re-do your Act IV Reflection.

3/1 Work on the final draft of your poetry essay. Due Wednesday.

3/2 Finish your poetry essay. Spend a lot of time because this is important and is worth a lot of points. After making all of your content changes. Be sure to read your final draft aloud and make any necessary changes before handing it in tomorrow.

3/3 Complete vocabulary #3. See the vocabulary page for the words and directions.

3/4 Read in your IR book and enjoy the college trip.

Monday
4/20 Write a summary of Acts II, III, & IV of Romeo & Juliet. I recommend making a bullet list, rather than a paragraph. Go through your book as you do this so that you don’t leave anything important out.

Tuesday
4/21 Complete the Act IV Quotations.

Wednesday
4/22 Complete the Act IV Reflection.

Thursday
4/23 Watch more of the modern version of Romeo & Juliet. Make sure to keep adding to your notes about how the director has adapted the play to the modern day.

Friday
4/24 Read in your IR book and finish watching the modern version of Romeo & Juliet. Bring your notes on the details and effectiveness of the adaptation to class on Monday.

Week 28

Monday
4/6 Passage Analysis #2. Choose any interesting or significant passage or section of dialogue from Act II or the beginning of Act III (at least 10 lines). First: translate it into your own words, Second: reflect on it in detail. See the handout for a reminder about how to complete this assignment. Reflection: Analyze any metaphors, puns, etc. Reflect on what it shows about a character, make predictions, connect to another part of the play or to real life, analyze the symbolism, or give your opinion about it, etc.

4/7 Study for vocabulary quiz #3b. Make sure you know all 30 words for the quiz on Thursday.

Wednesday
4/8 Complete the Act III quotations and finish studying for vocabulary quiz #3b.

Monday
3/9 Based on teacher comments, grading criteria, and your own ideas, write a final draft of your poetry essay. Once you’ve made the main content changes, read your essay aloud and correct any typos or awkward section.

Tuesday
3/10 Finish studying for the poetry quiz. Make sure you can identify, define, and give and example of each of the terms on the right. The quiz will be tomorrow. Work a little more on your poetry essay if you need to. All final drafts must be handed in by Thursday at the latest.

Wednesday
3/11           Write down 25 words of Elizabethan English from Act I. Read the link carefully for more information.

Thursday
3/12        Shakespeare video homework. See the link for details.

Friday
3/13 Read in your IR book. All IR tests must be taken next week, by Tuesday March 17th.

12/15 In order to study for the Romeo & Juliet exam on Wednesday, read over all of the notes that you took in class, look through any related assignments, and think about your answers to questions 1-18. Read over all of the quotations from Acts I-V Quotations, and make sure you understand and recognize them. You may earn up to 10 points extra credit on the exam by writing down thorough answers to the study questions.

11/12 Complete Passage Analysis #1. Choose an important passage of at least 10 lines. Part I: Translate each line of the passage into modern English. Part II: Analyze the passage. See the link for further instructions. Due Thursday.

4/2 Begin writing your review of Baz Lurhman’s modern adaptation of Romeo & Juliet. Argue whether his movie is an effective adaptation of the original play or whether you think it does not effective translate into the modern day. Be sure to analyze specific scenes and motifs. Due Thursday. Begin looking for your song lyrics for the lyrics as poetry assignment.
