Homework Assignments: Week 33
English 10

Monday 5/2 Work on your study questions. At a minimum, make sure you go through the entire list and determine which questions you need help on and which ones you already know.

Tuesday 5/3 Finish your outline if you have not done so already and work on your study questions.

Wednesday 5/4 Finish studying for the final exam. Finish the study questions, look through all your Act I-V Quotations and writing assignments on the play, and page through and read all of your notes in your book and on paper. Study questions are due tomorrow morning before you take your English final. Make sure you’ve printed out your outline (and your study questions) and you’re ready to go before the final tomorrow.

Thursday 5/5 Study for your history/government and math finals.

Friday 5/6 Read in your second IR book if you need more pages. All IR tests must be taken by next Friday, May 13.

Week 31

Monday 4/11 Complete the Act II Quotations. Bring your IR book this week so that we can read some in class.

Tuesday 4/12 Complete Passage Analysis #2. Choose an interesting passage that is at least 10 lines long. 1) Translate it into modern English. 2) Reflect on the passage. See the handout for an example.

Wednesday 4/13 Complete the Act III Quotations.

Thursday 4/14 Work on the Act IV Analysis. Due Monday.

Friday 4/15 Read in your new IR book. IR books are due by Friday, April 22. Finish the Act IV Analysis if you have not done so already.

 

Week 30

Monday 4/4 Work on the final draft of your Cyrano essay. Use the writing notes, my comments on your essay, and your own ideas to improve your essay. Due Wednesday

Tuesday 4/5 Finish the final draft of your Cyrano essay. Once you’ve made all of your content changes, read your essay aloud and make and further changes. Complete the writing reflection.

Wednesday 4/6 Complete Passage Analysis #1. Choose an interesting passage that is at least 10 lines long. 1) Translate it into modern English. 2) Reflect on the passage. See the handout for an example.

Thursday 4/7 Complete the Act II Questions.

Monday
3/28 Based on peer editing comments, the grading criteria, and your own ideas, write the second draft of your Cyrano essay. Due Tuesday.

Tuesday
3/29 Complete the introduction to Much Ado About Nothing assignment.

Wednesday
3/30 Complete the 25 words assignment. Look through the first and second acts and write down at least 25 words that are typical of Elizabethan English, but not modern English (like thee, thou, hither, thither, etc.)

Thursday
3/31 Complete the Act I Quotations assignment. Honors students should be finished reading Lord of the Flies and prepared to take a reading quiz by tomorrow.

Friday
4/1 Read in your new IR book. IR books are due by Friday, April 22. Work on the final draft of your Cyrano essay, due Tuesday.

5/3            PA#2: First translate the assigned passage from the marriage fiasco scene. Next, reflect on the meaning and significance of the passage.

Tuesday
5/4            Complete the Act V reflection assignment.

Wednesday
5/5            Work on the study questions to prepare for the final exam.

Thursday
5/6            Complete the outlines for the final exam essay questions.

Friday
5/7            Read in your new IR book. Finish watching Much Ado About Nothing up to the point that we’ve read and take notes on the adaptation (effective scenes, changes, casting choices, setting, etc). Work on the study questions.

Monday
4/26            Finish studying for Vocabulary Quiz #5. Quiz on Wednesday. Work on Act II Quotations, due Thursday.

Tuesday
4/27            Complete Passage Analysis #1. Choose a meaty passage of at least 10 lines and first translate it into modern English. Second, write at least a half page of reflection on the passage. See the model passed out in class for more detailed directions. Due tomorrow. Finish studying for the vocabulary quiz tomorrow.

Wednesday
4/28            Complete the Act 2-3 Questions. See the link for directions. Finish the Act II Quotations if you have not done so already.

Thursday
4/29            Finish watching up to Act IV of Much Ado About Nothing. Watch carefully and take notes.

4/30            Read in your new IR book.

Monday
4/12            Finish up your visual representation of Lord of the Flies. Due Wednesday.

Tuesday
4/13            Complete vocabulary #5. See the vocabulary page to get the words and directions. Finish up your visual representation if you have not done so already.

4/14            Finish watching Act I of Much Ado About Nothing. Watch carefully and take notes.

Thursday
4/15            Study for Vocabulary Quiz #5. The quiz will be next Tuesday (after we return from the college trip). Make sure you know all 60 words and can use each in a sentence that shows the meaning of the word.

Friday
4/16            Read in your new IR book and finish watching Act II of Much Ado on the Saturday or Sunday after the college trip. Study vocabulary so that you’re ready for the test on Tuesday.
