Homework Assignments: Week 15
English 10Monday 12/5 Complete the Act IV Questions.
Tuesday 12/6 Watch Act IV of Cyrano. Finish your Independent Reading if you have not done so already. The last day for 2nd Quarter IR tests is Friday December 9th.
Wednesday 12/7 Work on the study questions for the final. You may earn up to 5% extra credit on the final if you do a thorough job answering each of the study questions. Due Monday.
Thursday 12/8 Complete your outline for the final exam. Make sure you’ve written down the topic and a quotation for each body paragraph. Write a thesis statement for your introduction. Bring everything to class Friday and print it out once you’ve gotten it approved.
Friday 12/9 Study for finals. Make sure that you have jotted down notes for each of the study questions (or written out thorough answers if you’re going for the extra credit), that you’ve read through all your notes (on post-its) and on paper, and that you’ve read through your homework assignments.

Tuesday 11/29 Finish watching Act II of Cyrano. Watch from the scene where Cyrano and Roxane talk at Ragueneau's bakery to the scene where Christian insults Cyrano's nose.
Wednesday 11/30 Quotation Reflection #1: Choose two quotations from the reading today and reflect on them in detail. Be sure to analyze and give your opinion rather than summarize. Write at least a half page on each.
Thursday 12/1 Complete the Act III Questions. See the link for details.
Friday 12/2 Finish watching Act III. Read in your IR book. All second quarter IR book tests must be taken by Friday, December 9th.

3/21 Study for the Cyrano exam. On Wednesday, you will take part I of the exam. Be prepared to identify the speaker, context, and significance of 6 important quotations from the play. To study for this portion of the play, make sure you’ve watching all 5 acts of the play and that you’ve looked over all of the lines that we marked and discussed in class. For part II, go through the study questions and write out thorough answers (for extra credit), or just take some notes on each to study.Tuesday

10/13 Analyze the poem-duel scene in Cyrano de Bergerac. Discuss how Cyrano fights on two levels and what the scene reveals about Cyrano's character. Write more than one page and use at least 2 quotations to support your points.
10/15 Quotation Reflection #2. Choose two quotations from Act I of Cyrano de Bergerac and reflect on them in detail. Write at least a half page about each quotation (aim for more). See the link for more directions and a model.
10/16 Character Analysis: Cyrano. Analyze Cyrano’s character. Discuss his personality, his goals, his fears, his strengths, his weaknesses, his integrity. Is he a hero? How much does his nose bother him? Why do you think he acts the way that he does? Be specific in your analysis and use at least two quotations from the play to support your analysis. Write approximately 1 ½ pages.
