Monday 10/31 Read in your IR book and work on your Visual Representations, due next Tuesday.

Tuesday 11/1 Based on my comments, the writing notes, and your own ideas, revise and write a final draft of your Scarlet Letter essay. Make significant changes and carefully read through the writing notes to help you revise.

Wednesday 11/2 Finish revising your Scarlet Letter essay. After making all your major content revisions, be sure to read your final draft aloud. Think about each sentence and make your writing clear and thoughtful.

Thursday 11/3 Work on your Visual Representation. Due Tuesday.

Friday 11/4 Read in your IR book. If you’re reading more than one IR book, the first test is due by Thursday, November 17th.

Week 10

Monday 10/24 Finish the first draft of your Scarlet Letter essay. Due Tuesday.

Tuesday 10/25 Study for The Scarlet Letter exam. Make sure that you’ve read through all your notes and you’ve gone through all the study questions. Have a mini outline and the quotations picked for each of the study questions.

Wednesday 10/26 Based on peer editing suggestions, the grading criteria, and your own ideas. Write a second draft of your Scarlet Letter essay. Due Thursday. Finish studying for the exam tomorrow.

Thursday 10/27 Work on your visual representation for The Scarlet Letter. Due next week.

Friday 10/28 Read in your IR book. If you’re reading more than one IR book, the first test is due by Thursday, November 17th.

 

Week 9

Monday 10/17 Work on study questions. You can earn up to 10 points extra credit on the exam if you do a thorough job on the study questions. The exam will be next Tuesday 10/25.

Thursday 10/20 Work on your first draft--have at least a page and a half to show to me at the beginning of the period tomorrow.

Friday 10/21 Choose a new IR book and begin reading. Work on your study questions if you haven’t finished yet. Tuesday: first drafts due. Wednesday: exam (as long as everyone makes good progress).

Monday 10/10 Read chapters 19 and 20 in The Scarlet Letter. Read carefully so that you’re prepared for a reading quiz and/or class discussion tomorrow.

Tuesday 10/11 Read in your IR book. Schedule and IR test if you have not done so already. Bring your IR book to class tomorrow.

Wednesday 10/12 Read chapters 21 and 22 in The Scarlet Letter. Read carefully so that you’re prepared for a reading quiz and/or class discussion tomorrow.

Thursday 10/13 Read chapters 23 and 24 in The Scarlet Letter. Read carefully so that you’re prepared for a reading quiz and/or class discussion tomorrow.

Monday 10/3 Read to the end of page 109 in The Scarlet Letter. Read carefully so that you’re prepared for a reading quiz and/or class discussion on Wednesday. Finish up the think write in class on pages 90-95.

Tuesday 10/4 Read to the end of page 124 in The Scarlet Letter. Read carefully so that you’re prepared for a reading quiz and/or class discussion on Wednesday.

Wednesday 10/5 Read to the end of page 141 in The Scarlet Letter. Read carefully so that you’re prepared for a reading quiz and/or class discussion tomorrow.

Thursday 10/6 Complete the quotation reflection #4 assignment. See the link for the directions and the quotations.

Monday 9/26 Read to page 53 in The Scarlet Letter. Read carefully so that you’re prepared for a reading quiz and/or class discussion tomorrow.

Thursday 9/29 Read in your IR book.

Friday 9/30 Finish reading your first IR book. If you’re reading more than one book for this quarter, your first test needs to be taken by Monday, October 3rd and all books by October 19th. If you’re reading just one long book, be sure you’ve read more than 350 pages by this weekend.

10/12            Finish preparing for the Scarlet Letter exam—make sure you have written down a short outline and quotations for each of the potential essay topics. Review your notes so you are prepared for the quotation reflection section of the exam.

10/14            Juniors, Based on peer editing comments, grading criteria, and your own ideas, write a second draft of your essay. Due Thursday. Seniors: IR.

10/16            Read in your IR book if you haven’t finished for this quarter yet. All tests must be taken by Thursday, October 22 for juniors and Monday, October 26 for seniors.
