Act III: Scene Analysis

Analyze the trial scene in Act III. Look at how Danforth manipulates the witnesses like Mary Warren, Elizabeth, and Proctor, to protect his precious court and how tentatively he prods Abby to answer his questions. Reflect on Abby's ability to control all of the proceedings and Proctor's inability to let the truth be told. Choose an area of interest and focus in. Collect several quotations and write an informal analysis. Write at least two pages, but use the "think write" approach. Focus on your ideas and close analysis of specific quotations. Do not spend more than 40 minutes on this assignment.
